That is a really...Thanks for commenting Anne-Marie

That is a really interesting first job...and a great starting point for understanding the possibilities of automated testing.

As I mentioned to Phil I worry that I've laboured on the GUI point here a little too much. My intention was not to target GUI testing specifically but rather the lack of imagination beyond simply recreating manualAdam Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01392120495059443531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6109540481725463028.post-2740730282766549342013-01-16T22:35:10.132+00:002013-01-16T22:35:10.132+00:00Thanks Phil,

In my defence the main point of my post is less around automating through the GUI, which is a subject well covered already, but on the target of automation being to automate your manual tests (still probably well covered but hey). Folks seem to still be rooted in the mindset of "functional" testing being based on scenarios Adam Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01392120495059443531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6109540481725463028.post-46297074971402507022013-01-16T14:56:43.540+00:002013-01-16T14:56:43.540+00:00Thanks for the namecheck - but it's analogies ...Thanks for the namecheck - but it's analogies I'm against, metaphors are OK :)

Interesting post ( as usual ), sadly though this seems to be one of those testing debates that is always going to surface. You make some great points and I really like how you are sharing ideas and experiences with testers from other companiesPhilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00281118161548464012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6109540481725463028.post-84514827960563026022013-01-16T12:09:50.558+00:002013-01-16T12:09:50.558+00:00funny, one of my first jobs WAS to automate the te...funny, one of my first jobs WAS to automate the testing of fax machines. We did it by testing protocols - no GUI involved!

anne-mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05251671179559459913noreply@blogger.com
